2017 is coming to a close, and I can’t help feeling slightly nostalgic and reflecting on everything that’s happened – it’s been a rollercoaster to say the least.
I moved back to India in June 2016. Mishal and I spent all of July brainstorming and putting together ideas for Captimate (yes, that’s what we were going to call it. Don’t judge us.)
September was when we settled on the name Dysco. October we began building, and November we finished designing.
One year ago, on 10th December 2016, we launched the Dysco landing page (check it out below) – the very first iteration of our platform and community, for the world to see. It was both overwhelming and underwhelming, a feeling that I’m now pretty accustomed to.
In May 2017 we released the first iteration of our website, and then embarked on the wonderfully frustrating and enlightening phase of beta testing! In August we then went quietly live on the App Store, a soft launch of sorts, followed by our first public event, Open House in Bangalore in September.
In October we released our new website, and now here we are. December 2017.
Our team has grown, so have our users, and our supporters. We’ve taken all the feedback we’ve received, people’s suggestions, complaints, ideas and behaviours and distilled them into concrete features, new designs, planned events and other services that we can offer.
We’re rolling these out from next week – a fresh new start to a fresh new year. The next 6 months are packed with a series of interesting events for you guys, some are travel and tech-focussed, others art and music related and a couple are related to the new and digital workspace.
I just want to say a really big thank you – thank you for staying with us and continuing to use our platform, thank you for sharing your opinions and thoughts with me (DM me on Dysco!), thank you for being patient while things don’t work, thank you for recommending Dysco to your friends and family, and most of all thank you for believing in us! <3
Dysco is all about people – and I’m grateful for the people we’ve worked with, for the people in our community, and the people who have encouraged us.
I have a lot of hope and optimism for the coming year, and I wish you all the same excitement and energy to explore your passions and endeavours 🙂
Have a very happy new year and see you in 2018!
