Hey you, what’s your intention?

On Dysco you can find interesting people and innovative companies, depending on what you’re looking for and what you need. Perhaps you need an agency for a PR campaign, or maybe you want to collaborate with an artist or photographer. You might be hiring for a new team member or you’ve got an eye out for a new job.

But when you’re browsing through oh so many, many amazing profiles, how do you know who to network with? We get it. Initiating a conversation is hard – especially when you don’t know what the other person wants, or what they’re looking for professionally..

It’s sort of like being at a bar. You’re lingering and you notice someone at a bar. But do you approach them? How do you know if they’re single? How do you know if they’re looking to date? Maybe you could be bffs, but do they even want new friends? That’s the problem. Their intention isn’t clear and so you don’t want to make a move.

Thankfully, we’re not a dating app and we’re strictly professional. Okay – strictly social – professional, but still, that makes it less intimidating to pop a question. But you know what’s even better? Dysco wants to make it even easier for you. And that’s why we’re introducing ‘Intent’ as a core part of your profile. So that you can let everyone know your ‘professional status’ right off the bat. No more wondering, guessing, hoping and tip-toeing around delicately.

We’ve set 5 different intentions, to describe your current professional status:

  1. I’m Hiring – if you’re looking to recruit, either an individual or an agency
  2. Hire Me – if you’re looking for a new job, and want people to approach you
  3. Collaborate – if you’re open to working on projects with other people or brands
  4. Freelance – if you’re open to freelance projects
  5. Network – if you’re keen on connecting for advice, guidance, mentorship or engage in new professional conversations

You can choose up to 2 at a time, and these can be changed whenever you want in your profile settings under ‘Intention Status’. Think of it as a way to let the right people approach you, at the right time, for the right opportunities. If people don’t know you’re up for grabs – how will they approach you?

Seen someone whose intention matches yours? Tap on the intention buttons on their profile and you can chat directly with them about what you’re looking for – that exciting new project, a quick coffee and advice, or a place on their team! No more small talk, you can get straight to business.

Updating your status regularly impacts your discoverability on Dysco, and also determines who you discover on the platform too. If ‘you’re hiring’, then we’ll make sure to show you people who are looking to be hired. If you’re keen on collaborating, we’ll show you others who you can collaborate with.

It’s kind of like a personalised, digital, professional matchmaking service. We curate, we customise and we connect you so you can explore your maximum potential. Yep, this one’s intentional.
